Restore Nature, One Kit at a Time
We are partnering with nurseries all across the state to distribute MiniNature Reserve Kits (formerly known as Guerrilla Gardening Kits). Every year, between October-March, MiniNature Reserve distributes kits in order to advance our mission of restoring nature in the city.
What comes in a kit?

Who is eligible to receive a free kit?
● Guerrilla gardeners (project must be located in a city or non-residential area)
● Schools
● Small businesses & storefronts
● Community spaces
● Libraries
● Nonprofit headquarters
● Senior homes
● Low-income housing or public housing
● Community Gardens
● Shelters
● ID/DD centers
● Museums and education centers
Who Is Not Eligible for a Free Kit?
● Single family homes, you may purchase a kit instead
● Private schools, you may instead purchase a kit or apply to become an Installation Partner
● Churches or other places of worship, you may instead purchase a kit or apply to become an Installation Partner
● 501(c)(4) headquarters, you may instead purchase a kit or apply to become an Installation Partner
● Corporate headquarters, you may instead purchase a kit or apply to become an Installation Partner
● Farms and agricultural areas, you may instead purchase a kit or apply to become an Installation Partner
● City halls, police departments, government centers, military bases, or any other public institution not listed under the eligible list
Who is receiving priority for these free kits?
We have a limited amount of kits available, so we will be prioritizing low-income areas with limited access to green space.
Are there any conditions for receiving the kit?
Yes, Recipients must use these kits to create native gardens that are:
● publicly accessible (with exceptions for senior homes, schools, ID/DD centers, and other reasonable requests, just apply if you're not sure)
● available to our volunteers for maintenance and programming. Our network of volunteers should be able to maintain these gardens and harvest materials from them (with reasonable exceptions, just apply if you're not sure)
● able to be geotagged and displayed on our map of MNRs
Recipients also agree to:
● take care and participate in maintenance of the MiniNature Reserve
● create a Bloomerang profile to log their volunteer hours in Bloomerang
● take pictures and send them to MiniNature Reserve periodically (before and after installation, 3-5 months later, and one year later)
● document wildlife on iNaturalist under the "MiniNature Reserve" project
● submit a testimonial from a person who is directly impacted by the garden
