Reservist Training Program
Train with MiniNature Reserve to design, install, and steward pocket habitats that restore biodiversity.
Program Overview
Cities suffer from fragmented ecosystems with limited refuge for biodiversity. MiniNature Reservist Training changes that by empowering neighbors to design and lead small-scale restorations that add up to a thriving urban habitat network.
Participants learn ecological restoration fundamentals, practice Indigenous-led stewardship, and graduate ready to champion MiniNature Reserves in their neighborhoods and careers.
Training Course Experience
Hands-on labs, site visits, and peer learning circles bring the curriculum to life. Trainees build installation plans, practice community engagement, and cultivate plants that will anchor future MiniNature Reserves.
Each cohort forms a supportive network of reservists who continue collaborating on projects, sharing resources, and guiding new volunteers long after graduation.
Training Course Photos
A gallery of reservist training photos will appear here—showcasing fieldwork, stewardship projects, and classroom collaboration.

Application Timeline
We recruit one cohort annually. Fall applications typically open in late summer and spring applications open early in the new year.
The application outlines the required commitments, includes short reflection questions, and asks for community references. Accepted participants receive onboarding materials, timeline graphics, and site-planning tools to prepare for kickoff.
A visual timeline graphic will be added here highlighting application periods, review dates, notifications, and the program start.
