Aranza Hernandez
Secretary
Biography
My name is Aranza Hernandez, I grew up in Oxnard, going to La Placita for a discounted movie day and thrifting on Oxnard Blvd. Most mornings, I walked to Hueneme High school, admiring the trees that lined the Saviers Rd between Bard Rd and Yucca St. I transferred to Cal Poly Pomona from Ventura College, leaving Oxnard for the first time. My passion for California Native Plants grew as I studied landscape architecture, taught by professors that were immersed in their craft. At school I learned about the importance of green spaces in our communities, no matter how small or big. I moved back to Oxnard after graduating, hoping to find a way to make a positive impact in my hometown with my newfound passion. This is why I am proud to serve my community as secretary of MiniNature Reserve. P.S. my favorite California native plant is the Matilija Poppy (Romneya coulteri)
