Royal Huey
Nursery & Store Manager
Biography
Royal loves spending as much of his time outside! Royal got his start working for REI as a camp and hike guide out of Yosemite National Park. Afterwards, he took on conservation work with the California Conservation Corps (Feb '24- Apr '26), where he found a passion for conserving California's natural resources. His crew built and maintained several hiking trails throughout the Central Coast, having large projects in Garrapata State Park and the Kirk Creek Trail stretching far into the backcountry.
He enrolled in the Fisheries Program, scouring San Luis and Chorro creeks for trout REDD’s, restored riparian habitats, and nursed countless native plants for such projects. He completed an internship with Watershed Progressive where he learned fire & water-wise landscaping with many California native plants in urban environments. Now, Royal is excited to focus all his experience into nursing beautiful California native plants such as Mugwort, his favorite species. He admires the plant’s connection to one’s dreams and the powerful medicine that it holds. Some of his hobbies include fixing bicycles, finding new music, and exploring natural medicine.
